Yes it may be the code changed. Just download the fresh copy of the theme and install as you did before.
Backup the current installation of the theme before updating it to latest version.

Yes you have to manually update the theme as you did before. To get the latest version of the theme login to our site with the same username while you have purchased the theme and download the theme file from you account page.

May it was listed because the tag you are using for the post is the top Search Engine key. So that the Google listed those tags rather than the main article. Your tag may be the most searched key than your article post title.
It will be best if you contact to the SEO specialist or to the main author of the SEO plugin that you are using in your theme.

Can you please elaborate what actually you see while updating to the new version?
We have upgrade social icon to font-awesome. May you have not cleared the cache after update.
Please use the latest version of the theme into your site and clear all the cache so that you can see the social icon as normal.
