The above link is not working right now.
for you first issue
you need to go to the dashboard->setting->reading->static front page
there you select the blog page template to display it in the front page.

You need code customization for it but while doing this updating to the new version you customization code will be lost.
Its better to add the content as you like on the feature recent widgets and give a link to a specific page to display the full content.

Yes but you need to add the language file inside language folder. If you have it then send us because if you update to our latest version then you added file will be lost.

and under config.php file you need to set your language too.
