did you add any plugin or any custom code ? if you added plugin then once deactivate it and check one by one. The slider must display only in home page or the front page not in the other page.

you just put the blank text on column 1 and column 2 and put the content in column 3
Then it will appear to the right but don’t write anything on the text.

What post format you want ? You need to create the page and assign the template. The go to dashobard-> setting-> reading
There select the latest post. Set the image at featured to show the blog image large or blog image medium. if you want to display in full content then you need to keep the image in editor.
Then you may be able to see the post.

Ok that’s great.
But one thing is that you have changed the code in core file right ? If you change in core file then while updating to our new version all you customization code will be lost. So be careful for it.
