I’m about as far from an expert as they come but as I’ve had so much great help from the forums I’m trying to give something back!

You could try pasting that code into Theme Options > Custom CSS. If you’re trying to achieve what I think you’re trying to achieve it should hopefully work. See my website here where I did a similar thing.

I think the slider’s size is entirely determined by the size of the image you upload (i.e. no scaling occurs unless your upload is too big).

There’s a guide here on the suggested image sizes for the slider.
