I have been able to remove the date block, I would like to replace with a text block.

Hi, I was able to get the images to populate, however, I am still not able to select categories:

Appearance>customize>banner

>feature slider
> featured posts 1
> featured posts 2

The only categories showing are: top news, resource finance, business, uncategorized

The site is still in development and behind a splash page. I can DM credentials if required, however, if there is a panel/setting that forces all WP categories to populate within the template, please let me know.
