I have the solution to this weird problem: Large areas of text appeared to disappear on my website.
This is a local computer problem caused by the Adobe Acrobat 7.0 add-on for Microsoft Office Word. A security patch from Adobe solves the problem. http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows
The patch I used was released October 8, 2013, so it’s a relatively new problem. You may also see an error message in Word that reads:”Insufficient disk space, cannot display the requested font.”
