How can I make a div background color full width?

Hi miri,
Which div background section you are talking about? If you are talking about the Customize -> Colors -> Background Color then this background color will only takes effect when you site is narrow layout.

You can set your site to narrow layout. Go to Appearance -> Customize -> Ambition theme options -> Site layout and select Narrow Layout. By default it is wide layout and Click on Save & Publish button at the top of the options panel.

I would like to set my own specific div to have a background color.
I have set the div to have the background color, but am unable to make it span full width.

You have to do as we have done in business template. https://www.themehorse.com/theme-instruction/ambition/#businesslayout
You are adding the content in a normal page. To have the 100% width you have to create a page and select the business template.
