I’m currently using the Clean Retina (Free) theme on my website, and I’m experiencing an inconsistent layout issue with the way featured images and post content are displayed. On some posts, the featured image appears correctly with the expected dimensions, but on others it either gets cropped differently or leaves an unusual amount of empty space around the content. I have checked the image sizes and tried uploading images with similar dimensions, but the appearance still varies between posts. The issue seems more noticeable when viewing the website on different screen sizes.
Another thing I’ve noticed is that the problem becomes more obvious on the blog/archive pages. The post thumbnails and excerpts do not always maintain the same alignment, so one post can appear slightly taller or lower than the next depending on its featured image. I’m using the standard theme settings without making major modifications to the template files, so I’m not sure whether this is related to the theme’s image sizing, responsive CSS, or the way WordPress is generating the thumbnail versions. Clearing the website cache and regenerating the images temporarily changes the appearance in some cases, but it doesn’t consistently resolve it.
I’d like to keep using the free version of Clean Retina rather than replacing the theme, so I’m trying to determine the correct way to fix this without breaking the responsive layout. Has anyone experienced a similar issue with featured image sizing or inconsistent post alignment in Clean Retina? I’d especially appreciate guidance on whether there is a recommended theme setting, CSS adjustment, or WordPress image configuration that should be used to make the featured images and post excerpts display consistently across desktop, tablet, and mobile.
