I have just done a test blog of less than 40 words, my except limit. The ‘Read more’ invitation appears. Is there a way, via your the options in your theme (i.e. not code) to have this invitation only appear if the blog exceeds whatever word limit I specify?

Sorry we don’t have this options. you need code customization for this. We may fix this in our new updates.
