This theme has non optimal featured image sizes that are hardcoded – shown below. they cannot easily be changed unless you create a Child Theme.
If, like me at https://the5krunner.com you have large images this creates a massive network pageload and will ruin your RUM and GTMETRIX stats.

for anyone interested: this theme can be customised using CLAUDE to create custom CSS/PHP/etc and then inserting it using WPCode plugin. My RUM metrics are good (except featured images!! which you need a child theme for or for the developers to introduce an option.) Bottom line this is an old theme.

Location File Current Size Should Be
    Main carousel sliderheader.php’full”large’ (1024px)
    Featured Posts 1 (Latest Deals)header.php’full”medium_large’ (768px)
    Featured Posts 2 (In Depth)header.php’full”medium_large’ (768px)
    Blogroll grid (Top Stories)content.php’full”medium_large’ (768px)
    Single postcontent.php’full”large’ (1024px)
Top stories marqueeheader.php’thumbnail’✓ Already fineFooter carouselfooter.php?’large’✓ Already fine
