Yes to create the seperate blog page, choose static page and select the post page. (If you select the post page then it will display the post page. There will be nothing change in your home page.)
In above screen shot http://awesomescreenshot.com/0934hpe625 there is business template which you may select your home page no matter but inside the post page select any post you wish and all your post will be displayed.

Selecting blog type in home page from theme options will only affect in archive page.
