It turned out that it was a coincidence that I noticed the problem when I did the update. The root cause of this problem is that the older version of Revolution Slider allowed my site to be attacked. Right now I am unable to make the required update because it is bundled as part of the theme. Here is a background article that explains the problem.

When will you have the resolution? This is having a huge impact on my business. My site is completely down and has been since early December.
